Barcelona is my top recommendation to anyone who wants a city break because it has something for everyone! One of my favourite parts was the beach and marina. Although a bit touristy (but what place isn't) La Barceloneta neighbourhood was a stand out for me. So much so that I went back three times in my two day stay! From the beach, to the cute bars and restaurants, you could spend the entire trip there.
La Barceloneta is a must do in Barcelona, as it really shows you such a different side to this vibrant city. Remember to leave some of your Barcelona tips in the comments below for other fellow travellers!
Brunch and Cake
Literally the best restaurant ever! About a 5 minute walk from the beach, Brunch and Cake is Instagram heaven with its boho interiors, smug fridges and healthy food. The guacamole that came with my meal was in a syringe, no joke. But don't fret! They have another branch in central Barcelona as well if you don't manage to make it down to the beach.
When I visit a new city I almost always have the longest list of restaurants on my phone so theres not really any room for spontaneity (I take my food very seriously). But Barcelona is a hot city, so eventually we needed a break somewhere to cool down, and stumbled upon this cool, chilled cafe with the most delicious cocktails - make sure to grab a George Clooney if you go!
The best way to take in La Barceolanta is a long beautiful stroll down the promenade. You'll be able to people watch and window shop. When it all gets a bit much, take a break in Eyescream and Friends, probably the best ice cream I've had in a while!
Drinks at the W
Right at the end of the beach is a tall building with a big W embossed on the top - this is the W hotel. I was gutted I couldn't fit it into my trip because the view looks epic. If you're looking for a nice place for cocktails, this place could be the one!
