Last weekend I had the pleasure of dining at Eneko in One Aldwych. Located in the most beautiful flat iron-esque (new yorkers you know what building I'm talking about!) building, Eneko brings Basque cuisine to the heart of London. Eneko was created by three Michelin star Chef Eneko Atxa who is originally from Basque Country. The Basque Country in Spain is renowned for their food and so it wasn't a surprise when London picked it up and brought a piece over, and I'm so glad they did!
We were lead down a beautiful, grand copper staircase to the main dining area where we were seated in a booth that overlooked the entire restaurant. New to Eneko is their bottomless brunch which is seriously right up my street. I went for a classic Cava, but you could choose from bloody marys, a kalimotxo (coke and red wine, seriously so good!) and more.
This brunch is not like normal ones as it offers five courses, the perfect hangover cure in my opinion! We got three yummy starters, my favourite being the avocado tempura and my least the egg yolk tempura, it was just a bit too eggy for me (just picture an egg soup).
We couldn't decide on which main to get so the three of us got one of each and decided to share. There was duck fillet, rib of beef and monkfish. All were lovely, but oh my god, that monkfish was one of the best things I've ever eaten.
Actually thats a lie, because I think the dessert was the best thing. Especially the salted caramel mousse! The rose marshmallow dessert was also great because it brought some theatre to the brunch with a vase that overflowed with liquid nitrogen. So fun!
It was a great brunch with great service as we were well looked after. In the future I'd probably go with the three course brunch over the five course just because I don't think I could handle that much food again!
